Killer - Tech N9ne

Photobucket

Back on July 1st Tech N9ne released his latest CD since the 2007 release of MLK: Mizery Loves Kompany. This album offers 32 brand spanking new tracks to entice your ear buds. This selection offers the many skits that are common in this genre of music starting track 1 with "Dr. Fraziers Office". This skit is has Tech entering a psychiatrists office to discuss his "Demons" that quell inside and the CD is to portray the many emotions and sides of Aaron "Tech N9ne" Yates.

One thing first and foremost I would like to state is this album is good, and I'll even call it great, but this album is not as great as Tech N9nes album from 2006, Eveready: The Religion. My decision can be considered biased because Eveready is my first Tech N9ne album I've purchased (thanks Lacey ;)). The fact that Tech is trying to go mainstream does not effect me and my views in the slightest. I just think it may be a possibility that he is waining from his eclectic musings that are his bread and butter (i.e. It's Alive or Bout ta' Bubble). I will post a playlist at the bottom of this blog so you can listen to what I thought were the highlights of the CD. Here is a brief description of each track along with its name and maybe a funny thing or two I though of.

  1. Dr. Fraziers Office (skit) - This has some funny moments in it that will make you laugh.
  2. Like Yeah - Good hardcore Tech track - Killa killa , it's tha Gorilla
  3. Wheaties (Feat. Shawnna) - Good beat, but all and all I think it's a pretty weak track
  4. Everybody Move - One of the strongest tracks, Great Beat, and actually wants to make you move ! Club song all the way! - Time to scheize or get off the crapper
  5. Get the Fuck outta here (feat. Paul Wall & Popper) - This slows the beat a little, it has some creative lyrics and Paul wall adds some additional swagger to the album.
  6. The Waitress - Song explains itself. Tech is rapping about an attractive waitress, Good beat but the chorus is pretty weak.
  7. Crybaby - Tech rapping about the current situation of rap and his story on entering the Industry, This has a great story and a great POV that Tech has for his fellow rappers.
  8. Shit is Real - This is a Kabosh track . . Possibly the worst track I think on the album.
  9. Blackboy (Feat. Brother J, Ice Cube & Krizz Kaliko) - Great beat and its great to hear Ice Cube on a Tech track.
  10. Pillow Talkin' (Feat. Scarface) - Carries the beat from Blackboy. a sex track I dont care for it that much.
  11. Paint A Dark Picture (Feat. Dirtball) - I love this song, Cause its so Dark!! -I can Write a verse and take the sun away. . . Darkness . . .
  12. Hope For A Higher Power - Good track, slower beat with great lyrics.
  13. Worst Case Scenario (Skit) - Skit with prelude to track 14
  14. Psycho Bitch II (Feat. Liquid Assassin) - NEED I SAY MORE! ! ! ! I like the sample and . . and. . JUST LISTEN!!!
  15. Poisonous (Feat. Liz Suwandi) - Liz provides great vocals and a great unique beat.
  16. Too Much (Feat. Kutt Calhoun) - Great way to end with Krizz Kaliko, This is an epic ending or is it. . . . ?
  17. I Love You But Fuck You - Title explains it all
  18. One Good Time -Lyrically one of the strongest songs on the album. Just listen and see!
  19. Drill Team (Feat. Snug Brim, BG Bulletwound & Krizz Kaliko) - A mover track, I can picture tech starting a show with this one!
  20. Beat You Up (Feat. Lebowski, The Weapon & Big Scoob) - Carries some of the beat from Drill team, A little too repetitve, But hardcore none the less.
  21. Let's Go (Feat. Kutt Calhoun & Mista Fab) - A mover again, The Leads are great and make the song. A club song, Start Krumpin' Suckas!
  22. Why You Ain't Call Me - Its a good track, a bit whiny with the chorus. It's explains Tech's frustration with Hip hop artists he knows that won't work with him. or hatin' on him.
  23. Seven Words (Feat. Skatterman & Krizz Kaliko) - A sex song. . Listen to "That Box" on MLK to find out what I'm talking about. Krizz Kaliko's chorus is awesome!
  24. The Sexorcist (Infomercial) (Feat. Krizz Kaliko) - If anyone has been to a Tech N9ne show this will sound familiar. - Can I suck your tounge ?
  25. Killa Call (Skit) -Phone call skit
  26. Enjoy (Feat. Krizz Kaliko & Bosko) - Good song altogether. . I like the chorus.
  27. Elbow Macaroni (Skit) - Phone call Skit - Elbow Macaroni Bitch!!!!
  28. I Am Everything (Feat. Hed P.E. & Kottonmouth Kings) - For the fans of KMK and Hed P.E.
  29. Happy Ending - Piano?????? a pretty raw track, great track about Tech's family situation.
  30. Can't Shake It (Feat. Krizz Kaliko & Robert Rebeck) - I like this song, Listen
  31. Holier Than Thou (Feat. Krizz Kaliko & Strange Lane Choir) - This track sounds a bit of old Tech. I couldn't find a sample of this song.
  32. Last Words - the conclusion of the album with Dr. Frazier concluding their 1st session. A bit of a FU song and maybe with some wishful thinking. The title explains a lot

This album would be a 4 out of 5 if I had to rate it that way. It's a must for any Tech N9ne fan or aficionado. I cannot wait to see Tech N9ne in concert this fall for the tour of this album. If you at all have any opinions that you want to discuss please feel free to comment. Thanks for reading and here is that playlist I mentioned.

*note: the song "Killer" was not released on the album, but is an unreleased track that i think should have been in the album
